Graphic Design and Photography

Television Production BA

During my A-Levels, studying Graphic Design, Photography and Film Studies, I refined my style as a creative. Showcased here is some of my proudest work from my A-Level education, including extracts from an illustrated book, that I both wrote and designed.

I completed my A-Levels in with grades A*A*A*.

The Misinterpretation of Religion: The Illustrated Book

During my A Levels I wrote and illustrated a book. “The Misinterpretation of Religion,” was created as a final piece for my A Level Graphic Design coursework and is a 93 page written analysis into the role of Christianity in 21st century, western society. Through discussion and illustration, “The Misinterpretation of Religion” delves into the morality and ethics of Christian scripture in both modern and historical contexts to ultimately answer the question, “Is Christianity still relevant?”

Below are some of my favourite page designs in “The Misinterpretation of Religion.”

As a Catholic I’m often asked what I believe about homosexuality and my answer is simple; I don’t believe my God opposes LOVE.

Not only am I Catholic, I am also part of the LGBT community. The church might have an issue with me but my God does not. My sexuality has no interference with the way I interact with the Lord and no effect on my spiritual state.

So, if we are all created in God’s image, God is all genders, so all genders must be equal.
.
These images from "The Misinterpretation of Religion" show 12 portraits that represent a modern interpretation of the 12 disciples, with the models in the portraits varying in age, gender identity and sexuality.

Religious-Political Triptych

A triptych is a picture or relief carving on three panels, typically hinges together vertically and used as an altarpiece.
.
This is a religious-political triptych I made as part of my investigation into “the misinterpretation of religion.” The design looks at atrocities committed in the name of religion accompanied with the verse, “I can do things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” (Philippians 4:13) showing how the word of God can unfortunately be misused or abused for self-gain or evil.
.
The design was inspired by “Britannia” by artist Dean Lewis.

I experimented with adding typographic prints to the design at a letterpress studio workshop.

The Me Too Movement is a movement against sexual harassment and sexual assault. Whilst this movement has enabled more a more victims to feel able to come forward and speak out and share their stories, this shoot acknowledges those who still feel forced to hold their silence and are yet to find their safe space.
